How to Care for Your Luxury Wig
Maintaining your wig is essential for ensuring it stays soft, manageable, and beautiful for as long as possible. Follow these professional tips to extend the life of your investment.
1. Washing Your Wig
- Detangle first: Gently comb through the hair using a wide-tooth comb or wig brush, starting from the ends and working your way up.
- Use lukewarm water: Never use hot water, as it can damage the hair fibers and the lace.
- Shampoo gently: Use a sulfate-free shampoo. Do not rub or massage the hair; instead, gently stroke the shampoo through the strands.
2. Conditioning
- Apply a high-quality conditioner from the mid-lengths to the ends. Avoid applying conditioner to the lace or knots, as this can cause them to loosen and lead to shedding.
- Leave the conditioner on for 5-10 minutes before rinsing thoroughly with cool water.
3. Drying
- Pat the hair dry with a soft towel. Do not wring or twist it.
- Place the wig on a wig stand and allow it to air dry completely. If you must use a blow dryer, use the lowest heat setting.
4. Styling & Heat
- Always apply a heat protectant spray before using flat irons or curling wands.
- Keep heat settings below 180°C (350°F) to prevent heat damage.
5. Storage
- When not in use, store your wig on a wig stand or in a silk/satin bag to prevent tangling and preserve the style.
- Never sleep in your wig unless it is properly secured and protected by a silk bonnet or scarf.
